The ranch is located in the Sierra foothills near the historic mining town of Columbia, CA. Accessed from Highway 49 the ranch is only 10 minutes from Sonora and 15 minutes from Angels Camp. The elevation avoids the worst of the summer heat and winter snow so the riding is enjoyable all year round! For those traveling with horses, the ranch offers overnight stabling, with hotels and camping nearby. |
The Flying R Ranch is a family operated business. Owned by Royce and Marge Rickman and managed by their daughter, Marilyn, the ranch strives to meet the needs of its clients with a personal touch. Royce, a United Airlines pilot fell in love with the beauty of Tuolumne county and purchased the ranch in 1970 in order to breed Appaloosa horses. When he retired from breeding, the ranch was opened as a boarding and training facility. |
